what we collect

when you create an account, we store a password (hashed and never readable), and optionally a recovery email address and a hashed security answer if you choose to set them up. we also store a randomly assigned code number and your chosen color.

we store everything you post: the text content of your posts and the timestamps of when you posted them. we store records of which posts you have clicked "tell me more" on, and which posts you have flagged.

at the moment you create your account, we record a two-letter country code based on a header provided by our hosting infrastructure, if available. this is a one-time snapshot taken at signup — we do not track your location after that, and it is never linked to your IP address in storage. it is used only in aggregate to understand where the people using this service are from.

analytics

we keep simple aggregate counts for our own understanding of the service: how many people sign up per day, how many posts and replies are made per day, and the country breakdown described above. these are visible only to the site administrator and are never shared with third parties. we do not use any third-party analytics or tracking scripts.

what we do not collect

we do not ask for your name, date of birth, phone number, or any identifying personal information. we do not track your browsing behaviour outside of this site. we do not run advertising and we do not sell data to third parties.

what is public

all posts are publicly readable by anyone, including people who are not logged in. your code number, your color, and your total tell me more count are visible on every post you make. your recovery email address is never shown to anyone.

data storage

data is stored on a server hosted by Render.com. we take reasonable precautions to protect your data, but no system is completely secure. do not post anything you would not be comfortable being public.

cookies

we use one session cookie to keep you logged in. it contains no personal information. it expires when you log out or close your browser.

Account Deletion

Account deletion is available through the option located at the bottom of each page.

changes to this policy

we may update this policy. if we make significant changes we will note the updated date at the top. continued use of the site after changes means you accept the updated policy.
